Energy trade

PSImarket-Trading is a standard configuration of the PSImarket suite that includes all the system's trading-related modules. It provides support for a wide range of tasks in proprietary trading and procurement in front, back and middle office processes, from transaction recording to invoice verification. On the basis of the most important components described in the following sections as well as other available modules, various, custom-made configurations can be generated for specific tasks, right up to and including a comprehensive cross-business process integration.

In a nutshell

  • Full support for front-, middle-, and back office
  • Extensive contract management
  • Presentation and generation of various types of contracts.
  • Capacity management
Contract management is the core component of PSImarket. It enables the reproduction and analysis of a wide variety of contractual particularities. These can range from standard products to derivatives as well as “classical” contracts including complex energy-market conditions for multiple commodities. Contract management features a range of pre-defined contract models, many of which relate to specific commodities. These include fixed price contracts (including rates), index-based contracts and forwards, physical and financial options with fixed or index-based prices, spot deals, transport contracts, futures with margin calculation and associated aggregate contracts, and service contracts. PSImarket supports the two-contract model for the German gas market. For that reason, all the contracts specific to the gas market are also reproduced, i.e. supply, sales, feed-in, feed-out, storage and balancing group contracts in the system.

With the definition of products, PSImarket makes it possible to standardise and simplify processes. It is possible to define settings for the specific product parameters so as to guarantee quick and easy handling of standard commodities.

PSImarket supports the complete emissions trading process. This begins with the reproduction and administration of the certificates, the tradable derivatives, emissions trading accounts, trading periods, etc. and also includes the portfolio presentation of the emissions trading. Certificates can be valuated compared to (market-) price curves as well as converted – both manually and automatically. The generation of emissions-trading specific documents such as supporting “banking and borrowing” is also possible.
The capacity management module supports the administration, evaluation and monitoring of booked capacities and their utilisation. To that extent, it also represents part of the risk management functionality. Capacity management visualises bottlenecks published by the transmission system operators, the capacities applied for and the capacities used by the respective physical positions. To provide an overview of the booked transmission channels, all available booked and utilised capacities can be contrasted. If needed, booked capacities can be explicitly assigned to bottlenecks.
